- I learnt that X240 has 2 slots for M.2 SSD. One is occupied by a 16GB SSD cache drive (this is what I find in my device manager) and the other is for WIFI card. I wanna replace the 16G SSD with a new SSD as windows drive, keep the HDD and upgrade to 8GB ram as 16GB is not supported.

Unlock and remove the battery first.
Lenovo ThinkPad X240 using a 48WH 6-cells Li-ion battery, Lenovo P/N: 45N1128, 45N1734.
Unscrew all screws from the bottom case. You can remove the bottom case.
When bottom case removed, you can access RAM, heat sink, cooling fan, SSD, wireless card and built-in battery.
Remove three screws securing the battery.
Unplug the battery power cable from the motherboard. You can remove the battery.

Remove one screw securing the SSD.
Disconnect the cable from the motherboard.
It comes with a Samsung 512GB SSD.
In the next step, we will remove the ram.
Lenovo X240 Slot Ram Upgrade
Remove the RAM.
The laptop features an SK Hynix 8GB memory.
Disconnect two antennas and remove one screw, the wireless card can be removed.
